Mel Kucenic, a new author, shares beautiful memories of her father through her book, “Nishka’s Golden Heart.” Her father, who immigrated from Croatia in 1968, passed away when Mel was almost 21 years old. The bond between the two was one-of-a-kind, and his loss left a huge void in her life.

Mel’s Croatian roots have always been a significant part of her identity, and she has countless fond memories of her father. In addition to her own recollections, she collected stories from family and friends, intending to write a book in honor of her father. However, the project never made it to press.

After struggling for several years, Mel found inspiration to create a children’s book that embodied her father’s strengths, love of life, generosity, and kindness. The result is “Nishka’s Golden Heart,” a heartwarming tale that celebrates her father’s legacy.

Through Nishka’s adventures, Mel hopes to touch the hearts of parents and children alike. Her goal is to continue growing the Nishka series, sharing more golden heart adventures that inspire and uplift readers.
